Description
Silicon Carbide (S.C.) Sanding Belts
Silicon Carbide (S.C.) belts feature an extremely sharp and hard abrasive grain that delivers fast cutting action and a smooth, consistent finish. Compared to Aluminum Oxide (AO), S.C. abrasives cut quicker with less pressure, making them ideal for precision work and finishing applications.
S.C. belts are commonly used on glass, stone, ceramics, plastics, and non-ferrous metals, as well as in lapidary applications for shaping and polishing materials. Their razor-sharp grains fracture during use, continuously exposing new cutting edges for a clean, uniform finish.
Key Features:
- Faster cutting than Aluminum Oxide
- Sharp, hard grain for precision sanding
- Excellent for finishing and polishing
- Closed coat construction for maximum grain coverage
- Can be used wet or dry
Best Uses:
- Glass and stone finishing
- Lapidary work (stone shaping & polishing)
- Plastics and rubber
- Non-ferrous metals (aluminum, brass, etc.)
- Between-coat sanding and fine finishing
Why Choose Silicon Carbide?
Silicon Carbide is one of the sharpest abrasive grains available, allowing it to cut quickly and leave a finer scratch pattern. While it may wear faster than Aluminum Oxide, it is the preferred choice when a smooth finish and precision results are required.
